12/28 {Happy Half Birthday}

So, let's talk about my name. Not exactly a chart topper for most common names of 2012. Most people when they meet me offer up some generic joke about siblings named Bronze or throw in a little "Hi ho, Silver" {P.S. Who's excited for the remake of The Lone Ranger?}. Therefore, when I found out there was a character on the great world of television, I was ecstatic. Turns out it was the CW's 90210, boooo {sorry to 90210 shippers}.

However, the point of all this is that the character Silver celebrates her half birthday every year. Kinda cool, eh? Well today is my half birthday! I wrote on Facebook this morning "If Silver from 90210 can celebrate her half birthday, then I think Silvers from all over the world should be able to. Happy Half Birthday To Me!" Believe me, I'm not expecting anything out of this; however, I do think it would be a good day to check in with my 23 Before 24 Bucket List

Happy Milestone Birthday

We celebrated Dad's birthday on Monday, November 12th. I won't tell you exactly how old he is but {a} it's a milestone birthday and {b} he is 27 years older than me.

Our dinner conversation centred on the changes that had taken place in the last few decades and how different his life growing up was from Brother's and mine. Made for some interesting discussion.

Anyways, happy birthday, Dad! Here's to many more years.

No. 325 - 5 Things Canada

Here are five reasons why I am thankful for Canada.
  1. Um, it's absolutely beautiful, and there is scenery for everybody. Mountains. Flatland. Rain. Snow. Shine. Lakes. Rivers. I love my country.
  2. Free health care. I know, I know. With free health care, quality goes down and waiting time goes up. However, my personal opinion is that I would choose free health care over alternatives any day.
  3. We are known for our multiculturalism. In fact, I would risk to say that that is one of the foundational ideologies of Canada.
  4.  We have awesome affiliations. Shout out to England & Australia!
  5. We are such a prosperous and rich country. How blessed am I to have grown up and spent the majority of my life in such an environment.
Now get out there, enjoy the festivities, and Happy Canada Day!

No. 324 - BirthWeek Recap

Haha, so there is an ongoing theory going around our household called the birthweek {started by yours truly}. Basically, one day isn't enough time to celebrate a person's entrance into the world, so why not make a whole week out of it? Or at least, that's what it felt like, because I have awesome people in my life that make me feel special.
Here are some of the highlights of my birthweek!

Tuesday, June 26 @ 12:00am: A friend texts me thinking its my birthday . . . and so the birthweek begins.

Tuesday, June 26 @ 9:00am: A friend sends me a Facebook message thinking she missed my birthday - feeling the love already :)

Tuesday, June 26 @ 7:00pm: I get a parcel from my mom with new high heels for my birthday.

Tuesday, June 26 @ 9:30pm: My roommate takes me to the movie theatre to see Brave.

Wednesday, June 27 @ 9:00am: Birthday wishes from Taiwan; gotta love having YWAM friends!

Wednesday, June 27 @ 10:00pm: This is a funny story. Since I worked the evening on my actual birthday and Brother worked in the day, we decided at the beginning of the week that we would get up early on June 28 and have a family breakfast before Brother goes to work. So I get home from Young Adult's and ask Dad what time we are getting up the next morning. He says, "No that's on Friday that we are doing the breakfast thing". I say, "No, it's Thursday, because it's my birthday." This goes on for a few more minutes until we are both thoroughly confused. We decide that I will get up at 5:00 am the next morning to see what Brother had been planning/thinking.

Thursday, June 28 {My Actual Birthday} @ 12:00am: That same friend who texted me on June 26th texts me again :)

Thursday, June 28 {My Actual Birthday} @ 5:00am: I go chat with Brother about what is going on with the breakfast plans. Here is how the conversation goes on.
Me: So are we going for breakfast this morning?
  Brother: No that's on Friday.
  Me: Oh . . . okay.
  Brother: Hap . . . no wait, it's the 27th.
  Me: No, it's the 28th.
  Brother: Oh, well happy birthday!
Me: So do you want to go out for breakfast?
Brother: No I have to make my lunch and shower. We'll do it tomorrow.
Me: Ok *goes back to bed*.

Thursday, June 28 {My Actual Birthday} @ 10:00am: Dad makes me the most delicious cake and coffee and gives me a beautiful card and a gift.

Thursday, June 28 {My Actual Birthday} @ 11:00pm: Pizza and screamers with a friend; quality time :)

Friday, June 29 @ 5:30am: The family goes for breakfast at Humpty's. We all laugh over the funny events that transpired to get this breakfast thing off the ground. The birthweek continues.

Friday, June 29 @ 10:00am: The possibility of thunderstorms nixes the beach plans with a friend.

Friday, June 29 @ 12:00pm: That same friend comes over with . . . wait for it . . . CHALKBOARD PAINT . . . and we spend the afternoon watching chic flicks, doing manicures & pedicures, and reading magazines. So wonderful.

Thank you to everyone involved in my birthweek. Thank you for all the Facebook wall posts and texts. Thank you for the presents and cards. Thank you for spending time with me and remembering me. Everything was noted, appreciated, and will be remembered ♥

No. 322 - 23 Before 24

So, happy birthday to me. I am twenty-three years old today, which is weird because I feel as if I haven't got the chance to be twenty-two. However, I have a solution to this, and it's the "23 Before 24" challenge. Basically, it's a mini-bucket list of 23 things to complete before I turn 24. Ready? Here they are.
  1. Take a dance class {I don't care what type of dance, but just some type of dance}.
  2. Go rock climbing {Probably indoor, I don't know of any outdoor opportunities around here}.
  3. Wear a classy hat {Think Prince William & Kate's wedding}.
  4. Drive the ice road to Fort Chip {Because it's something you should experience in Fort Mac}.
  5. Dye my hair red {Long time coming}.
  6. Get a piercing {Sorry, no more details}.
  7. Eat macaroons {I just need to do it . . . somehow}.
  8. Use chalkboard paint {Preferably to make a chalkboard}.
  9. Learn a new classical piece on the piano {I have a whole book of Beethoven that I never play}.
  10. Send out Christmas cards snail-mail style {Because I love the tradition}.
  11. Go snowboarding {I need to get over the "you can only snowboard in BC" attitude}.
  12. Co-host a radio show {I have friends in radio . . . you know who you are}.
  13. Go to a dance {I don't know where or how, but something other than a wedding or club}.
  14. Learn how to change a tire {I just want to be that girl}.
  15. Learn how to hang stuff on walls {I seriously have an issue with getting things straight}.
  16. Go horseback riding {Because it's been awhile}.
  17. Wear dresses whenever I can {Some girls are addicted to shoes or bags, mine is dresses}.
  18. Go golfing {I feel like it's a sport I need to learn}.
  19. Go to the Oil Sands Discovery Centre {Just cause it's there}.
  20. Buy myself fresh flowers whenever I can afford it {Or whenever people buy them for me}.
  21.  Watch all 6 seasons of LOST again {Long overdue, but a year should be a good enough timeline}.
  22. Go somewhere outside of Canada {I don't care where}.
  23. Be myself {Cheesy, I know, but it's easier said than done}.

You can be sure all 23 of these things will be photographed and documented!
Happy Birthday :)

No. 4 - Beauty

The beauty of a woman
must be seen from in her eyes;
Because that's the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.
It's the caring that she cares to give,
the passion that she shows;
And the beauty of a woman
with passing years only grows.

Happy Birthday, Chantelle.
