Sister Adventures

Saturday morning, Sister & I woke up and decided to go on adventure. Ready to see the details? Here we go. First, get bundled up to walk to the bus stop in -12 degree Celsius weather.

Winter shot.

Posers at a bus stop.

Art at a bus stop.

Destination #1.

Our mission???? LES MISERABLES ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 More posing.

Of course, no adventure is complete without a trip to Starbucks.

We interrupt this adventure post to say that at this point Theresa from McMurray Musings came up to me to introduce herself and talking blogging. So awesome to meet this inspirational woman in real life. I was little bit starstruck. Anyways, everyone go check out her blog before finishing the adventure.

Waiting for coffee & being silly.

Someone doesn't know how to spell Sister's name.

The adventure ended with a wonderful morning full of beautiful, haunting melodies!

Thanks for a great adventure, sis!

Hand-decorated mini jar to hold my chalk collection :)

Dear Weather: I am 100% for no jackets, no tights, no scarves, and no boots. Bring it on! Dear Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" Goat Edition: Funniest thing you will ever watch, ever. No seriously, go watch it here. Harlem Shakes begone! Dear College Tuition/Fees: Why? Why? Why? Beginning to think we should go back to the trading & bartering system. Dear IV Medication Administration: Please go smoothly during clinical and don't give anyone speed shock or mix incompatible drugs. Dear Lifeguard Training: I really don't want to swim 400m in 10 minutes {I know, I know, that is not difficult}. Why am I still training? Isn't 8 years enough proof that I know my stuff??? Dear Saturday Night Banquet: So pumped to dress up and do my hair and makeup! Gonna be a good time. Dear Reading: I haven't touched a fiction book since Christmas. Feel free to make a re-entry into my life at anytime! Dear Blog Commenters: I kinda sorta really like your input. Thanks!

TransAtlantic Fashion #2

Wow, it's been a month already, and I'm so excited to link up with Janine @ Bake, Glue, and Trend! for TransAtlantic Fashion #2. See last month's edition here.

One of my favourite things about Janine is her style of blogging. She includes fashion in each post, but then has a little lifestyle story to accompany. One of my favourite styles! And usually a good laugh, she is quite entertaining. Make sure to check out her blog!

As for her outfit, I am absolutely in love with sweater patterns, and Janine pulls this look off so well. Other pictures on her post include wearing a leather jacket with this ensemble! Also cute use of the brown belt!

As for my outfit . . .

I'm not at my usual fashion picture spot :P. Haha, so I apologize for the kitchen background, but I'm calling this outfit my "errand-running-outfit".

Scarf: Aldo // Chambray: Superstore // Tanktop: TJ Maxx
Jeggings: Garage // Cowboy Boots: GoJane

Second edition, done! Happy Thursday!

TransAtlantic Fashion #1

Okay, ask me how excited I am for this post! I am hopeful that it will be the first edition of many more to come!
Ready for the background???

I met Janine from Bake, Glue, and Trend! via all the Dressember activities that were going on last month. She and I were both participating in said challenge, and via comments and whatnot, we got acquainted! Well, I absolutely fell in love with her style, her blog, and her descriptions of life activities {plus she's British!}.

From that, she and I launched TransAtlantic Fashion! The basics are coordinating outfit posts with shout-outs to the other's style! I have had so much fun setting up this post with her, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! {Also make sure you check out her darling blog}. Ready to meet her?

Not only is she wearing the ever-popular bauble necklace, but her miniature polka dots dress is warming my heart. Love her choice! Go visit Bake, Glue, and Trend!

And for my outfit of the day!

Believe it or not, that skirt is a sewing project I did last year as a part of my College Girl's Fashion Project.
Check out the DIY here.

Scarf: Bargain Shop // Shirt: Winners // Skirt: DIY
Tights: Shoppers Drug Mart // Boots: Gift

There you have it! What did you think of the first edition of TransAtlantic Fashion!?!? Make sure to send Janine some love! And have a Happy Thursday!

I Got Nominated!!!!

My dear friend {met her during the Dressember activities} over at Bake, Glue and Trend! {seriously check out her blog} nominated me for the Liebster Award!

This award is like a chain mail style letter given to up and coming bloggers with less than 200 followers to help promote them.

The Rules
  • Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
  • Answer the questions that the nominator set for you plus create 11 questions for your nominees.
  • Choose 11 people with less than 200 followers and link them in your post.
  • Go back to their page and tell them.
  • No tag backs.
11 Random Facts
  1. I didn't watch Disney movies until I was 16 years old. My first film was Aladdin {still my fav}, and I watched it while babysitting.
  2. I took piano lessons for 12 years and competed on a provincial level.
  3. I hated anything zombies until The Walking Dead came into our family's life a week ago. Now obsessed.
  4. I refused to go swimming past my knees in the Indian Ocean due to my phobia of sharks. Biggest fear.
  5. Once upon a time, I drove a hippie van spray-painted with the phrase "Make love not war" on the side.
  6. I grew up in a small country town with a total of four traffic lights and walked around barefoot in the summers.
  7. I am a morning person.
  8. Most people think my sister is older than me. A good thing???
  9. I have been to all 10 provinces in Canada. So privileged to say that!
  10. I have only dyed my hair twice in my entire life. Once blue {don't ask} and then the red it is now.
  11. I fall upstairs more than I fall downstairs.
Questions from Janine

What does the last text you received say?
  • "Night!" From a friend. Sorry nothing interesting.
Look out of your window. Now tell me what you see (even better take a photo to show me).
  • I am currently sitting at my school desk and see a beautiful sunrise and an empty field.

What would your last ever meal on earth be?
  • Pizza. Yep. I could eat pizza forever.
If you had to be locked in a room with a song playing on repeat forever, what song would it be?
  • Oooo, such a good question! This is a tough one, because I {probably like so many} listen to music according to my mood. I love loud, dance music, but I also love chill music. However, staying true to myself, it would probably be a Taylor Swift song. Maybe Long Live?
Would you rather have brains or beauty? And why?
  • Brains. Hands down. Beauty is overrated. Brains last forever and can be used in so many good ways. Beauty fades and is mostly a self-centred thing {I know I'm generalizing}.
What is your proudest achievement to date?
  • The fact that I made it to my third year of nursing school. Post-secondary education seemed so daunting and long when I first began pondering it. Now I have a year and a half to go.
If you could change just one thing in your life right now instantly, what would it be and why?
  • Ooo, that's a tough one. Especially since we are our own worst critics. I would change my impatience. I want to be more relaxed and low-maintenance in terms of things happening the way I want them to. I'm a bit of a control freak {first-born-child-syndrome}.
What was the last thing you ate?
  • Spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner last night. Speaking of which, I should probably eat breakfast . . .
Comfort or Style?
  • Style. Besides if you do it right, you can have a comfortable style. But ya, I'm a dress and heels girl through and through.
If you could give your 13 year old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
  • Twofold. {A} Going back to my flaw of impatience, I would tell myself that everything will fall into place. {B} Also I would tell myself that I would find my style and personality and I would love it, so don't waste time trying to live up to everyone else's expectations and opinions.
How many pairs of shoes do you own?
  • I had to go count and the final tally is . . . 31!!! Wow, I didn't even know it was that many. That's a lot. Yikes.

11 Questions for My Nominees
  1. What did you get for Christmas this year?
  2. If you could instantly pack up and move somewhere tomorrow, where would that be?
  3. Candy or Chocolate?
  4. What is your favourite song as of right now?
  5. Which reality TV show would you go on? And why?
  6. Do you think Prince William & Kate's baby is a boy or a girl?
  7. Where were you five years ago at this time?
  8. Where do you want to be five years from now?
  9. What is the last thing you pinned on Pinterest?
  10. How long have you been blogging?
  11. What is your life motto?

Dressember 2012

The project: Dressember 2012
The mission: Only dresses for 31 days
The rules: Repeats allowed
The collection: 34 {yes, 34} dresses
The reason: I love dresses and . . . why not?

Photobucket

So I have decided {very last minute, I might add} to participate in Dressember 2012. Am I crazy? Probably. I live in average -25 degrees Celsius weather. I walk a lot to my destination due to a lack of a vehicle. Am I excited and inspired? Absolutely! Those who know me know my love of dresses, and I've been itching for another A Silver Snapshot challenge {I'm all about the challenges}.

Photobucket

Now, I have a total of 34 dresses belonging to my name. This is an assortment of summer dresses, winter dresses, party dresses, short and long dresses, and handmade dresses. Some might say that is a lot, while others would disagree. Either way, this is the starting lot for this challenge.

Photobucket

I am going back to blogging every day, because I will photographing and documenting each of the 31 dress days :). However, fear not, this will not be the only content during this month. Other regular {or irregular, who knows} blog posts will either be in an additional post or combined.
Furthermore, I'll put some of these pictures on my Instagram asilversnapshot.

Photobucket

Finally, here are ways to particpate . . .
1. Suggest different outfit combinations or specific dresses for certain days.
2. Donate/Lend me dresses {I'm looking at my girlfriends who are approximately the same size as me}.
3. Leave your link in the comments if you are participating in Dressember!

Yay, exciting!
See you tomorrow with the first installment.

5 from 500

I cannot believe this day is here. Who would have thought two years ago when I sat down and decided to write a review on a favourite movie that I would be sitting here writing my . . . wait for it . . . FIVE HUNDREDTH POST!!!!!!

Photobucket

That's right. Welcome to my halway-to-1,000 blogpost. I think I am more excited about this number than I was about my two year anniversary. I am so thankful for this blog that I cannot even begin to put it into words. So in the spirit of American Thanksgiving, here are five things out of the five hundred that I am so very grateful for.

{1}  I feel as if I've grown in my hobby with photography. Still not to the point where I would call myself a photographer, but I definitely know more and view it in a different light. I'm grateful for this.
Photobucket

{2} I'm grateful for how creative and crafty and "DIY"y {made-up-word-alert} I've become. This was definitely an inner hobby waiting to come out.
Photobucket

{3} I am grateful for all the personal growth I've experienced. Having a blog really forces you to find out who you are and what your likes and dislikes are. This is one of the best rewards of blogging.
Photobucket

{4} What an amazing community! Every blogger will tell you that when you begin blogging, you are so unaware of the amazing friendships you'll form and people you'll meet {virtually, of course}. I have been blessed numerous times by the many other bloggers out there.
Photobucket

{5} The biggest thing I'm grateful is my growth in the Lord. I feel like professing your faith in a virtual way is a form of accountability. Maybe I don't write about my faith as often as I should, but I feel as if it influences every aspect of blogging. I am so thankful to the Lord for the last 500 posts!
Photobucket

Thanks for sticking with me through all the crazy and adventure! Here's to 500 more!
