Coffee Date

It's my day off and I still woke up at 6:30am. Sleeping in is not my lot in life. So I trekked down to the new stand-alone Starbucks with Brother and my yoga elective homework. Here are some coffee date tidbits of life.

~ Currently I have three weeks left of third year.
~ Currently I am drinking a Venti White Chocolate Mocha with soy milk.
~ Currently I am a little obsessed with the character Roy Harper on Arrow.
~ Currently I am wanting to buy flowers for myself to celebrate Easter & spring.
~ Currently I think that Easter Sunday should always be sunny or else something is wrong.
~ Currently I am hoping UNE jobs get posted soon.

Currently life is good. And on fire :)

Happy Thursday!

This Girl Is On Fire

I know some of you are tired of me talking about Alica Keys' "Girl On Fire" song, but seriously, this song is my currently theme song.

Not the lonely girl part, but the part where I am on fire. My life is on fire. What better way to live than on fire?

Does anybody else feel the excitement of having this as a theme song? We have the opportunity to live a life on fire!

Happy Tuesday!

When Was The Last Time You Dreamed?

Lately, a recurrent theme has been happening in my life . . . dreaming. Whether it's goals. Whether it's the future. Whether it's practical things in the present. I've been thinking about dreams, wishes, hopes, call it what you may. Then I think . . .

Do I live as a dreamer?

Do I dream for my family? For my future? For my life? For my faith? We all dream what we want to be when we grow up. What about if we dreamed even though we are already grown up?

Dreams and desires are a strange thing. Some say you only need to believe for it to be true. Some say not to be unrealistic. I say, find out what your dream is and what it looks like, and then do it. No excuses. No procrastination. Live your dream. Live today. Dream.

The Little "+"s

Kudos to K & R for this idea.

+ New standalone Starbucks.
+ Sleeping in this morning.
+ Late night cuddles & laughs with the siblings.
+ Going to watch Oz The Great And Powerful with Sister. Realizing it's a kid's movie.
+ Sunny weather and spring.
+ Hanging out with 1st & 2nd & 3rd year nursing students. Unite!
+ Dressing up for a banquet.
+ Fun lifeguarding shifts.

Life has so many pluses. Why focus on the negatives???

Friday's Letters {Reading Week Style}

Dear Books Pictured Above: That is all the homework I have to do over "reading week". Guess there will be no holiday for me :( Dear Jeremy Gilbert: RIP. We will miss your brooding self and slow blinking. Dear Mental Health Rotation: I loved every bit of you, both the inpatient placement and the community placement. I hope more exposure will decrease the stigma of mental health in our society. Dear Musical Fireworks: Totally called Katy Perry. I know that conversation. "Let's end with a song about fireworks". Duh. Dear Harlem Shakes: I've only seen one, but I'm sorry, I'm not getting on the bandwagon. Why do I extremely boycott any hyped-up things? Dear Medicine/Surgery Rotation: Please be awesome. I got my schedule yesterday . . . . Dear Oscars: All I can say is . . . Les Miserables, Les Miserables, Les Miserables!!!!

I Just Want To Do Everything . . .

Have you ever got a case of the I-just-want-to-try-everything-under-the-sun??? Because I've got a serious epidemic going on in my head right now. I feel like it is the pre-spring funk if you will, because nothing is really happening, but everything is about to begin. So want to hear about a few of the life choices I want to embrace?

I want to be a Grade 6 teacher. Not even joking. I did some work with Grade 6's for my nursing community placement. I turned to the person I was working with and said, "It wouldn't take me that long to get my teaching degree after four years of nursing, right??" What am I thinking? I don't want to go back to school.

I want to be a performer. Whether that be putting on stellar concert performance on the piano, playing in an orchestra, or acting on stage, I have a performing arts itch. Not entirely sure where it came from.

I want to be a traveller. Seriously. I just want to buy a hiking backpack, pack up the necessities, and hit the road {preferably a European road}. I want to meet lots of people, take lots of pictures, and fill journals full of adventures.

I want to be an office assistant. I know, I know. Dream big. It's just been a lot of fun doing administrative stuff for my community placement, and come on, this girl loves organization and sticky notes.

I want to be a full-time blogger/crafter. Wouldn't that be the most amazing life ever? Get paid to create beautiful things and then share them with the world? Oh A Silver Snapshot, what I could do with you!

Those are just a few of the big ones. Some other ones that have crossed my mind include yoga instructor, piano teacher, and fashion designer.

However, despite writing all these ideas down, I know I am pursuing the thing in life I am meant to be, a nurse :)

What about you? Have you ever wanted to be something other than what you are?

Wow Wow Wednesday with This Girls Life

Happy Wednesday!

Ask Me Where Three Years Went . . .

I took this in the summer when I got to do a plane ride over my city :)

All week I've been saying that I stepped off the plane three years ago with a tan, and I've never seen it since :P. All joking of course because I would not change stepping off that plane for anything. But basically, it's been three years since I've moved to Fort McMurray. Wow.

I have a year and a bit left until I graduate nursing school. People ask me almost every day what I plan to do after and if I will stay in Fort McMurray. I answer honestly, "I don't know." However, I do know, I would never be opposed to living here. I love it here. The people. The culture. The opportunities. Who knows where the future will take me? But for as long as I'm in Fort McMurray, I am happy :)

Happy Saturday!

Current State of Mind

loving // So many things! Clinical. Friendships. Hockey. Yoga. Work {yes, I said it}. This past month {so this past year} has been off to good start, and if every month is as good, then I think I'm set for a great year!

watching // Well, now that Once Upon A Time is on hiatus, I've had to find other TV to occupy my time {although there hasn't been much free time to do that}. It's no secret that I've been keeping up with the Vancouver Canucks {boo to the shoot-out loss last night}. I saw Hansel and Gretel in theatres this past weekend. And to everyone who is just catching up with Downton Abbey {I watched it online when it came out in the UK}, how do you feel now after the "Sybil" episode!?!?!?

wishing // That eating healthy and exercising wasn't so hard to coordinate. I realized that I need a routine in order to get my health in order, but the difficult part is my life is so void of routine due to the school schedule {I know, excuses, excuses}.

eating // On that note, I went grocery shopping for chicken and penne over the weekend, and now am anxious to try out a good cheese sauce. Yet another area of my life I wish had more forethought {oh the ever looming meal planning}.

reading // My first choice for my 100 Books reading challenge was the Harry Potter series. I'm excited to read all seven books again! Another series I'll be rereading before November will be The Hunger Games. There are some books that deserve to be read over and over and over.

looking forward to // Reading week. I get to go on a mini-vacation, and just spend time not studying or getting up early. Plus after reading week, I will only have a total of 7 weeks left of third year! Booyah!

kudos to much love, illy for the idea

Happy Tuesday!
P.S. I can't wait for everyone to see what is happening here on the blog on Thursday! Make sure to clear your schedule cause it's exciting stuff!

I Have A Crush On . . .

Okay, so this is how it works in my life {for the lesser important things that is}. I get really into some fad or phase for awhile, and I can't just keep it to myself. So here are my latest crushes

  • Hockey - How can you not cheer when it's been such a long process to get the season started? 48 games? Anything can happen! Of course, I'm a Vancouver Canucks fan through and through! Go Schneider!

  • Jennifer Lawrence - Come on, who doesn't like this girl? She is one of the funniest and down-to-earth celebrities out there, and I feel as if she has appeal to everyone.

  • Yoga - Every since I found out I can take a Yoga class for a 3 credit elective, I've been sold. Not only do I relax and de-stress, but it's a workout. Yes please! {And yes, I look like this all the time . . . }

  • Captain Hook - I have not come across one gal who doesn't like the resident bad boy on Once Upon A Time. You know what they're calling his fans on Twitter??? #hookers . . . I promise, I didn't come up with that one.

  • Reading - I wrote about my 100 Books To Read Challenge on Wednesday, but can I just say that there is nothing so wonderful as escaping into the world of fiction and knowledge? I often remind Brother that my choice superpower would be to remember everything I read.

What do you have a crush on these days???
Happy Friday!
