Can You Get Any Weirder?

So once our Girls Group starts up again, we will be doing the series Weird by Craig Groeschel. Our young adults group did it last year, so I've heard good things about it! I'm really excited too, because I get the opportunity to take the lead in this study, something I've not yet done in the group {and that was a run-on sentence . . . }.

To prepare, I've started reading the book ahead of time, and my goodness, there is some good stuff in there.

1,000 Things

Awhile ago, I mentioned in an update blog post that a new feature coming to A Silver Snapshot would be the 1,000 Things To Be Thankful For Challenge. Well, I am happy to announce that this challenge is underway, and I am loving it {kudos to Michaela Noelle Designs for the idea}.

This challenge is based out of the verse 1 Thessalonians 5:18. 

" . . . give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

The Lord has really been challenging me lately on topics such as positivity, thankfulness, and contentedness. So look for random updates on this challenge in the future!

So if you noticed, #15 talks about Erin's blog Sweetness Itself. This girl is absolutely amazing, and I have found quite a friend and inspiration through the blogging world. She does weekly blog posts about things to be thankful for and last week I sent her a picture of my list. Check out the blog post!

No. 332 - We Found God In A Hopeless Place

Is the title too much? Sorry. I am writing this at 5:30 in the morning, so you can't ask for much.

It's been a while since I've written what I call a "God post" or "faith post" or whatever. Just wanted to share a little of where God has been taking me in my life lately.

More than ever, He's been saying You can't do this without me. Life lately has been all about being humble and surrendering. It's been about speaking the truth and acting on it. It's been about giving up my own desires and plans for the ones He has for me.

Not easy.

Here are a couple of verses that have found there way into my journal lately.

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:1-2.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sigh.

Ephesians 1:4.

So, as evidenced in the above Scripture, truth and humility are what is going on in my life right now,
and through that, I am rediscovering God every day.

No 276 - Bible In A Year

Well, I did it! I read through the Bible in one year.

On May 9th, 2011, I printed off a weekly Bible reading chart that split the Bible into seven sections - Gospels, Law, History, Psalms, Poetry, Prophecy, and Epistles. So one year later, I finished. It's a crazy, cool feeling. I guess it just shows that if you just start doing something, a year will be over before you know it.

No. 118 - Letting Go

The theme of the past few days of my life has seemed to be letting go. I feel as if I have been brought to a place more often than not of putting aside the things I rely on and trust in for my security. People will always let you down. Media is shallow and fake. Fashion is ever-changing. Money is unstable. I am not saying all this to be bitter and cynical. I am saying this to challenge myself to look at where my priorities are. Where do I spend my time? Who do I go to for advice? How do I carry myself in public? Weighty questions, yes, but necessary questions in the process of letting go.

"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever." 1 John 2:15-17
