TransAtlantic Fashion #2

Wow, it's been a month already, and I'm so excited to link up with Janine @ Bake, Glue, and Trend! for TransAtlantic Fashion #2. See last month's edition here.

One of my favourite things about Janine is her style of blogging. She includes fashion in each post, but then has a little lifestyle story to accompany. One of my favourite styles! And usually a good laugh, she is quite entertaining. Make sure to check out her blog!

As for her outfit, I am absolutely in love with sweater patterns, and Janine pulls this look off so well. Other pictures on her post include wearing a leather jacket with this ensemble! Also cute use of the brown belt!

As for my outfit . . .

I'm not at my usual fashion picture spot :P. Haha, so I apologize for the kitchen background, but I'm calling this outfit my "errand-running-outfit".

Scarf: Aldo // Chambray: Superstore // Tanktop: TJ Maxx
Jeggings: Garage // Cowboy Boots: GoJane

Second edition, done! Happy Thursday!

At Home with Nicholas

Kudos to A Beautiful Mess for the idea.

I have a small crush on Nicholas's place. My friend recently moved to the beautiful city of Calgary {also which I have a crush on}. He graciously agreed to let me take pictures of his apartment for the blog. My self-appointed theme is: Modern Yet Travelled.

Blog meet Nick :)

I love home spaces and can't wait until I have one of my own to decorate. Until then, I will have to satisfy my desire with taking pictures of other people's places :)

Happy Sunday!

TransAtlantic Fashion #1

Okay, ask me how excited I am for this post! I am hopeful that it will be the first edition of many more to come!
Ready for the background???

I met Janine from Bake, Glue, and Trend! via all the Dressember activities that were going on last month. She and I were both participating in said challenge, and via comments and whatnot, we got acquainted! Well, I absolutely fell in love with her style, her blog, and her descriptions of life activities {plus she's British!}.

From that, she and I launched TransAtlantic Fashion! The basics are coordinating outfit posts with shout-outs to the other's style! I have had so much fun setting up this post with her, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! {Also make sure you check out her darling blog}. Ready to meet her?

Not only is she wearing the ever-popular bauble necklace, but her miniature polka dots dress is warming my heart. Love her choice! Go visit Bake, Glue, and Trend!

And for my outfit of the day!

Believe it or not, that skirt is a sewing project I did last year as a part of my College Girl's Fashion Project.
Check out the DIY here.

Scarf: Bargain Shop // Shirt: Winners // Skirt: DIY
Tights: Shoppers Drug Mart // Boots: Gift

There you have it! What did you think of the first edition of TransAtlantic Fashion!?!? Make sure to send Janine some love! And have a Happy Thursday!

No. 310 - Beautiful by Design

A couple of days ago, something really cool happened to me. I got my makeup done by a professional makeup artist. However, it is the story behind it that makes it cool.

My friend, Dianalee, is a makeup artist and has a passion called Beautiful by Design. I say "passion" as opposed to "business" because when talking to her about it that is exactly what it is, her passion. But in her own words, Beautiful by Design is not just about doing makeup for wedding or grads, but it is about sharing the message that all women are beautiful . . . by design. She recently posted on Facebook the following status:

The characterization of a person as “beautiful", is often based on a combination of inner beauty, which includes psychological factors such as personality, intelligence, grace, politeness, charisma, integrity, congruence and elegance, and outer beauty which, is on a subjective basis. When it comes down to it, it's the inward beauty that far outweighs the outer beauty! Don't you think?

What a wonderful message!

Anyways, a few weeks ago I "liked" her Facebook page. She was holding a draw for a free makeup application once she got to 100 "likes", and I WON!!! I knew it was going to be a fun experience, and it was! I got my makeup done for our annual small group girls diva dinner {say that ten times fast}. Pictures of that tomorrow, but for today, check out the makeup preparation and the beautiful woman behind the scenes.

Love it so much!

Make sure you check out her Facebook page
and pray for her as she embarks on telling women that they are beautiful by design.
